Accellion cyber incident

March 25, 2021

Accellion FTA (File Transfer Appliance), a 20-year old product nearing end-of-life, was the target of a sophisticated cyberattack in December 2020. The Accellion cyber incident is thought to have impacted at least 300 customers, but the damage continues to be unveiled. While exploiting vulnerabilities in vendor software is not an uncommon pastime for bad actors, what’s concerning about this event is the nature of the breached data and the size of the ransoms demanded. This cyber incident was explored further, insurance considerations were discussed and actionable recommendations to mitigate cyber risks were provided.

Pregnant Workers Fairness Act

January 11, 2024

As of June 27, 2023, employers with 15 or more employees are required to accommodate employees, for not only pregnancy, but many other related issues and conditions. While we still await the EEOC rulemaking that will guide enforcement of the statute, it is expected that employer responsibility to accommodate will range from menstruation related issues to childbirth.

Our speakers will discuss accommodation requests from eligible employees, including "undue hardship" absent requests, the employer liability resulting if employers do not pursue the interactive process required from the Act and how employers can be prepared for the expanded protections that go beyond pregnant employees.
