As of 3 June 2022, 71 FTSE 100 companies had published their 2021/22 annual report and accounts. This report, the second in our 2021 series, provides an update on the story so far.

We are now well into the 2022 AGM season, with nearly 60% of FTSE 100 companies having held their AGMs. Median levels of support for remuneration resolutions have remained high, and we have seen a reduction in the number of companies receiving a for vote below 80% from 12% last year to 7% this year.

The majority of the low votes have been due to shareholder challenge on areas such as increases to variable pay as well as concerns around pay for performance. As in our last update, relatively few companies have proposed a new policy this year (28% versus 26% last year).
