MELBOURNE, April 18, 2022 – WTW’s commitment to delivering the best investment services for our clients has been recognised in the annual independent survey of Australian institutional investors, conducted by Peter Lee Associates.

For the fourth year in a row, WTW maintained its co-leading ranking in the overall survey (captured by the Relationship Strength Index), rated by almost 100 chief investment officers, chief executive officers and other leading investors. WTW’s Australian investment team ranked outright or equal first in four key advice categories: strategic asset allocation, dynamic asset allocation, sustainability and risk assessment.

Asset owners are seeking us out for the strength of our investment strategy, governance and sustainability work.”

Aongus O’Gorman | Director, Investments for WTW in Australia

Aongus O’Gorman, Director, Investments for WTW in Australia commented: “WTW has seen considerable growth in our engagement with clients and prospects over the past 12 months across a number of our offerings, with asset owners seeking us out for the strength of our investment strategy, governance and sustainability work. Our advice around sustainability and being able to leverage the work we have done globally with our Climate and Resilience Hub, sets us apart in the Australian market. Sustainability was a new category in the survey last year, and we’re delighted to remain the market-leading provider for this advice; this is clearly a huge focal point for the industry.”

WTW’s Net Promoter Score jumped again in 2023 and the survey results also showed the firm is very well regarded in terms of lead consultant. Aongus said: “Our consultants rank second by a small margin; consultant capability is something we have always prided ourselves on, and we’re delighted to see the improvement in our score. It’s also a testament to the efforts of our broader team and I would like to thank them for working so tirelessly in bringing the best of WTW to our clients each and every day.”

WTW was also rated “excellent” across the board for advice regarding Your Future Your Super and other regulations. Aongus said: “In an era of huge regulatory changes to our industry, we are very pleased that our work has resonated so strongly with our clients.”

He added: “The survey clearly shows that clients continue to rate the perceived quality of our service as increasing over the past three years, reflecting our team’s effort to ensure the highest quality outputs, tailored to client needs. Another major area of expertise, acknowledged by clients, is in governance capabilities, with new clients engaging WTW for significant projects.”

Sandhya Chand, Managing Director of Peter Lee Associates commented: “With WTW ranking first across all aspects of consulting advice, be it strategic, dynamic, risk related or sustainability, it is no surprise that the consulting team behind these results is also very highly regarded. In fact 60% of WTW clients now evaluate their consultant as ‘excellent’ a testament to the client-focused advice delivered by the team.”

After making a significant shift in the way WTW delivers asset consulting services to the Australian industry, Aongus said the survey reflected WTW’s rising awareness in the market. He said: “We’ve engaged across the market to more deeply understand the unique business models, growth aspirations and areas where organisations may have challenges, to identify where we can best help. It’s all about building relationships for the long term and delivering the right services to ensure clients achieve their goals. Quality advice is at the heart of every engagement, but it alone may not solve the problem.”

The Peter Lee Survey results are collated from individual interviews with industry respondents, where they are asked for their views on the services and capabilities of asset consulting firms. Of the 13 scoring sub-categories that make up the overall RSI rating, WTW was assessed as leading/co-leading in five, and second or equal second in eight.
