GB D&O Market Update Q3 2021

In this update, we include a particular focus on developments in pricing on excess layers as well as considering small and medium enterprise (“SME”) business in more detail. For these purposes, we have defined SMEs to be UK registered private companies with revenue up to £350m.

• Q3 has seen faster improvements in the GB D&O market than we anticipated at the time of our previous update.
• Over the quarter, premium rates overall continued to rise, but at a much more moderate pace.
• Competition on excess layers and some increased interest in primary layers from incumbent insurers have led to some clients, with more straightforward risks, seeing flat renewals and even reductions in some cases.
