Welcome to the Winter 2022/23 edition of the Political Risk Index, produced in collaboration with Oxford Analytica. We have gathered contributions from across the world to support clients in their management of political risk and bring attention to new trends in global politics.

With increasing geopolitical turmoil in recent times, the task of operating global businesses gets increasingly challenging. Our twice-yearly Political Risk Index helps boards and business owners identify and manage risk whilst aiding fact-based investment decisions.

While many commentators have noted changes in the world order and increasing Eastern influence in Africa, our latest index suggests that the dominant trend is “dealignment” – emerging market countries are increasingly seeking advantage by playing the superpowers off against each other.

Our index details the direct and indirect impact of dealignment using our usual risk factor matrices and overlays expert commentary on what this all means for clients and investors more generally.

Thank you for taking the time to read this Political Risk Index, I hope that you find it both interesting and valuable.
