Supply chain attacks: How they look and what they cost

The world is getting smaller in a digital sense, and vulnerabilities and exposures are multiplying due to greater interconnectivity. While great strides are being made in terms of cost efficiencies and scaled operations, thanks to outsourced solutions and IT vendors, there are inherent business continuity risks posed by these developments. Supply chain attack is a growing and persistent attack vector that targets vulnerable spots in the IT supply chain. The objective is to acquire access to larger corporate assets where ransomware/ other exploits can be deployed to make money by exploiting weak links in the chain. Supply chain attacks have become prevalent in recent times with thousands of organisations falling prey and the trend is not slowing.
