The pension index rose in every region except Brazil over the third quarter, as the impact of higher discount rates on liabilities more than outweighed negative investment returns. The U.S. saw the strongest improvement, while Brazil was the only region to experience liability growth, which was partially offset by asset gains.
While it is always the case that the Global Pension Finance Watch captures results at the end of each quarter, we particularly want to highlight the “point in time” view of this publication in light of recent volatility. WTW supports the daily monitoring of pension funded status and other key pension financial metrics for those organizations wishing to inform key business decisions.
