Long-term incentives have long been a critical compensation element in executive compensation in India. Recently, we have seen technology firms and startup organisations use LTI effectively for critical talent across the organisation, not just executives. This can be witnessed in the wealth creation for critical talent seen amongst new unicorns and IPOs. With the recent changes rolled out by SEBI, India Inc. could be offering LTI to gig workers and Non-Executive Directors on the Boards of companies.

Willis Towers Watson India recently conducted the "Are your long-term incentives market competitive" webinar on 15 December 2021 that discussed the talent and compensation challenges that the HR and Rewards leaders are facing today which include:

  • How can LTI be used effectively?
  • Is ESOP still an attractive instrument?
  • Why are Restricted Stock Units (RSU) used?
  • Is there a way to factor in performance and shareholder value creation in LTI?
  • Ways to leverage the recent announcements by SEBI.

The session was led by Senior Executive Compensation Leaders at Wills Towers Watson. Aakriti Chandra, Senior Director – Rewards, HR Operations and Technology, Flipkart also joined the session and shared her experience and learnings from the LTI journey with us.
